Health Insurance

California Institute of Integral Studies wishes to assist students in reaching their optimum mental, physical, social, and spiritual wellness. The Dean of Students Office offers resources for students, including a CIIS-endorsed student insurance plan through Kaiser Permanente student insurance for the academic year 2012-2013.

The Kaiser Permanente student health plan is a hard waiver plan and eligible students will either enroll or waive out online. Students who elect the student insurance will be billed after the open enrollment period closes and make payment to our administrator

It is CIIS policy that all international students studying in the U.S. on an F-1 student visa enroll in the CIIS-endorsed health plan and maintain health insurance throughout the duration of their program. International students may waive enrollment in the Kaiser Permanente plan by providing the International Student Advisor with proof of comparable coverage in English.

Students can find more about the 2012-2013 Kaiser Permanente student health insurance (rates, FAQs and more) on MyCIIS (Student Life tab-->Student Health Insurance, log in).

If you have questions after reading through the information, please contact the Student Health Plan Coordinator at ciishealthinsurance@ciis.edu.

2013-2014 ACADEMIC YEAR

CIIS will be offering a student plan for the academic year 2013-2014 and all eligible students will be able to opt in with guaranteed coverage, as well as their qualifying dependents and partners.

The student health insurance plan for the 2013-2014 academic year is currently under negotiations. Each year CIIS assesses the student health plans available to CIIS students and makes a decision in early summer. We will update MyCIIS as we learn more throughout the spring and summer. Students will be able to opt into a health plan starting from August 1, 2013.
