Community Mental Health Info Session

Each program offers informational sessions designed to offer you a sense of a program’s educational mission and admission requirements.You will have the chance to ask questions about curriculum to help you find the best program for your educational goals. If you are unable to attend a session but would like more information, please contact the admissions counselor for your program of interest.

TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING

For transportation and parking information, please see the directions page. Parking around the Institute is limited; you'll find metered parking spots as well as pay-per-hour and daily-rate parking lots. We recommend that you take public transportation: The campus is located just a few short blocks from the Civic Center BART Station and the Van Ness MUNI station and is accessible via several bus lines (14, 47, and 49 buses, as well as the F Line, which runs along Market Street).

Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Concentration in Community Mental Health

The CIIS CMH program has been designed to help build a culturally competent and diverse mental health care work force specifically trained to provide effective therapeutic services to populations in the public sector. The program will provide academic excellence and professional skills from many recognized disciplines within professional psychology. In addition, the program will empower psychotherapists to provide counseling and mental health services that meet diverse clients’ needs and expectations, including those with severe mental illness. The program represents an important collaboration between the academic and public mental health sectors. Community and public agencies have indicated their interest in working with CIIS to develop and implement the program.
