Applying for Financial Aid

Before You Apply
Before you apply, find out whether you are eligible for financial aid.

How do I apply for financial aid?
Step 1 – File your FAFSA

File your FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) with the Department of Education. You will need CIIS’ school code: 012154. This school code authorizes the Department of Education to send your FAFSA information to CIIS.

What happens next?
Step 2 – Complete your Loan Entrance Counseling online (new students only)

After you have filed your FAFSA, you are required to complete your Loan Entrance Counseling online. Avoid using the Safari browser, as it is often not supported by the Department of Education. Download instuctions on how to complete your Loan Entrance Counseling.

Step 3 – Complete your Master Promissory Note (new students only)
Please complete your Master Promissory Note online. Again, please avoid using the  Safari browser because it is often not supported by the Department of Education. Download instructions on how to complete your Master Promissory Note.

Then…
Step 4 –Accept/Decline yout Awards Online
Once the Financial Aid Office receives all of your required documents, they will begin processing your application. You wait to receive an email from our office detailing how to accept your awards online. Please save our email address, finaid@ciis.edu, in your email contacts to avoid our messages being sent to your spam folder.
Download instuctions on how to accept/decline your awards online.

You have received an email to accept your awards online. How is this done?
Go to the Financial Aid Office Online System. Your login is your Student ID (contact Admissions for your ID number). For new students, please click First Time User in order to get your PIN number. Note that you ust use Firefox or Internet Explorer. Safari is not supported.  Download Firefox or Internet Explorer.

While you wait to hear about your financial aid awards, you should contact your Admissions counselor to coordinate all of the required documents to be fully admitted into the program of your choice.

If your status is Provisionally Admitted, the Financial Aid Office will not transmit your funds from the Department of Education to CIIS per federal regulations. It is important that you contact Admissions to resolve your admit status.

When will your funds be disbursed?
Our disbursement dates--when the funds go into your account--are listed on the Financial Aid main page under Important Dates.
