Professor Brian Swimme to Be Honored at Sufism DinnerPosted on Oct 5 2012

CIIS Professor Brian Swimme will be honored by the International Association of Sufism at a dinner in Greenbrae, California, on October 20, 2012. The event recognizes Swimme's recent documentary film, "Journey of the Universe," an exploration of the origins of the world we live in. Swimme co-wrote and narrates the film.

Swimme set the film on Samos, an island off the coast of Turkey, the birthplace of Pythagorus, an ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician. The film alternates between a day in the life of Samos, which Swimme invites us to enjoy and explore, and his dramatic account of the evolution of the cosmos and life on Earth.

The dinner honoring Swimme and his movie will take place at 6 pm at Jason's Restaurant in Greenbrae. Speakers include CIIS Professor Richard Tarnas, and documentary filmmaker David Kennard.

Both Brian Swimme and Richard Tarnas teach in the program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness at CIIS.
