Integrative Health Studies: Sound and Healing Focus

New For Fall 2011, the Integrative Health Studies MA Will Offer Sound and Healing Focus

Beginning in fall 2011, Integrative Health Studies (IHL) master's students will have the opportunity to choose a Sound and Healing focus, which provides enhanced knowledge and skills in the therapeutic uses of sound, voice, and music. Sound can be used to heal, and is a significant tool for improving quality of life for health and wellness clients.

In addition to fulfilling regular coursework in the IHL program, students who choose this focus will deepen their understanding of sound healing as a creative and energetic tool for challenging transitions, such as the end of life. Students will have the opportunity for advanced skills training in sound and music healing technologies; will learn additional skills to apply to their work within holistic health centers; and will be situated in real-world internships, where they will gain strategies for researching stress reduction, health enhancement, and crisis and pain management through sound.

The Sound and Healing Focus is open to graduates of the Sound, Voice, and Music Healing Certificate Program in Public Programs, as well as new studens wishing to obtain a master's degree in Integrative Health Studies.
