F. Antonio Ramírez Hernández, PsyD, is nationally and internationally recognized for creating Centro de Capacitación para Erradicar la Violencia Intrafamiliar Masculina (CECEVIM), a methodology for working with Latino men who abuse their partners. He is active in the Bay Area serving in domestic violence task forces. He has presented in Drama Therapy as well as domestic violence conferences.
Antonio published the book Violencia Masculina en el Hogar (Masculine Violence in the Home) (Editorial Pax, Mexico, 2000) and the chapter "CECEVIM-Stopping Male Violence in the Latino Home" for the book Programs for Men Who Batter (Civic Research Institute, 2002).
He continues to research the issue of men's violence in the home as well as training facilitators to start groups for men. His teaching interests include cross-cultural counseling, research design, transpersonal psychotherapy, and clinical case seminars.
He is interested and has trained in shamanic practices both with Native American and Latin American healers. He is also interested in researching how these shamanic practices can be used in psychotherapy.
