Where the Rubber Meets the Road: Bringing Attachment Theory Into the Therapy Dyad with Jennifer Edlin, MFT

About the Presentation

Using a video-recorded session as a jumping-off point, we’ll look at how a therapist can pull for the secure attachment template available in (nearly) every client to create a secure base from which to explore painful material. This talk will focus on what we can do as therapists with our clients to set the stage for a secure attachment. Because of time limitations, we will not be able to directly address how to work with insecure attachment styles that (of course) show up between therapist and client.

About the Presenter

Jennifer Edlin, MA, MFT, is a supervisor who enjoys working with therapists to help them develop their unique voice, and trust, find, and use their inner wisdom with clients. Jenn has extensive training in AEDP, a relational, experiential therapy with a grounding in psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, and neuroscience. Jenn has facilitated small experiential training groups in the Bay Area and Boston for therapists participating in AEDP trainings. She has offices in Oakland and San Francisco, and works with individuals who are seeking to heal attachment trauma, transform relationships, and lead more deeply fulfilling lives.

Integral Counseling Psychology Master's Program

The Integral Counseling Psychology (ICP) program is one of five distinct master's in counseling psychology programs at CIIS. ICP was the first East-West, transpersonal psychology graduate program in the world. Transpersonal psychology is a framework in which Western schools of psychology are synthesized with the world's spiritual traditions. We view psychological healing and growth within the larger context of spiritual unfolding.
