Elena Beth Hull

Alum of Expressive Arts Therapy

Elena Beth Hull, M.A., LMFT, LCAT is a licensed Psychotherapist and Creative Arts Therapist who's personal and professional paths have led her to integrate creativity and healing. She offers individual in-depth psychotherapy, couples therapy, and expressive arts groups and retreats. She has also created and facilitated Heal the Healers retreats through The Joyful Heart Foundation and developed the Darkness to Light Conference for therapists, offering them an integrative model for working with adult survivors of sexual trauma.

She weaves expressive arts modalities with somatic experiencing and transpersonal psychology, within a psychodynamic, trauma informed framework. Her clinical approach is engaged, creative, and compassionate. She acknowledges self-expression as a tremendous resource for healing. She considers therapy an experience of reunion: reunion with our whole selves, our latent possibilities, our bodies, our intuition, and our community.

She has a private practice in the West Village and is Clinical Director of Midtown Marriage and Family Therapy, PC. This year, 2011, she is focusing her energy on developing Sacred Temenos, a partnership with Allison Talis that is dedicated to the sacred nature of healing the effects of trauma and childhood sexual abuse on the human soul, mind, and body. Their mission includes training therapists and healers as well as providing expressive arts, movement, and yoga based classes and groups to those who wish to heal from the complex impact of trauma.

As Clinical Director of Midtown Marriage and Family Therapy, she has created a community of licensed therapists with founder Ellen Gregory, LMFT. Together, they created a training site for Marriage and Family therapy interns and associates that is dedicated to continual learning and to a humanistic, psychodynamic theoretical foundation. The community trains post graduate students and has served as a placement site for Hofstra University, Iona College, and Mercy College. As part of the east coast CIIS alumni, She hopes to be part of creating a strong CIIS presence in NYC.
