EWP Ph.D. student Thomas Lucking has been accepted to present his paper, TECHNOLOGY AND CREATIVITY: THE PERILS AND POSSIBILITIES OF NEW TOOLS IN THE DIGITAL AGE

The conference is the 7th annual edition of INTED2013 (7th International Technology, Education and Development Conference) that will be held in Valencia (Spain) on the 4th, 5th and 6th of March, 2013.

EWP alum and adjunct professor Alessandra Strada, Ph.D., has just published her latest book, The Helping Professional's Guide to End-of-Life Care: Practical Tools for Emotional, Social, & Spiritual Support for the Dying

She will also be presenting an experiential workshop at the ADEC (Association for Death Education and Counseling) Annual Conference in April. The title is : Grief Reactions in Palliative and End of Life Care Settings.

EWP core faculty member Jorge Ferrer's ongoing work: Publications, reviews, interviews

The Journal for the Study of Spirituality featured a review of Jorge Ferrer and Jacob Sherman's The Participatory Turn.

In addition, his essay, "What does it mean to live a fully embodied spiritual life?" will be newly reprinted, this time in the upcoming issue of the Journal of Holistic Psychology.

Finally, Ferrer was a guest of the Marin TV Program, Private Matters, which focuses on raising awareness about sexuality, intimacy, and full self-expression. He was interviewed by Max J. Van Praag on "Relational freedom: Beyond monogamy and polyamory."

 

 

EWP Ph.D. candidate Zayin Cabot gains teaching position at California State University

Zayin Cabot has been hired by the Philosophy and Religion Department at the California State University-East Bay to teach a course on "Introduction to Asian Religions." Zayin is currently completing his EWP doctoral dissertation, as well as co-teaching with the Dagara elder Malidoma Somé another course at CIIS, "The Indigenous Practice of Poetic Participation" (spring 13).

EWP alum Joseh Garcia, Ph.D., presented the results of his dissertation research at a special lecture in November 2012

EWP alum Bahman A.K. Shirazi (Ph.D., 1994) spent the last two weeks of 2012 in Auroville, India, where he gave a two-day seminar about the early history of integral yoga and philosophy in the United States. The seminar covered some of the challenges of creating a graduate level education in the United States based on Integral education, as well as CIIS co-founders Haridas and Bina Chaudhuri's accomplishments in establishing the Cultural Integration Fellowship and CIIS.

EWP Ph.D.c Ted Esser teaches Consciousness/Transpersonal Studies at Sofia University

Ted, who has been the Operations Manager for the Spiritual Emergence Network for the last eight years, taught the first Introduction to Consciousness Studies class ever offered at Sofia University, Palo Alto (previously the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) in the spring of 2012.

Additionally, Ted has been appointed to teach the upcoming Advanced Seminar: Contemporary Transpersonal Theory and Philosophy in the Winter of 2013 for the same department.

On the publication front, Ted has also been invited to contribute a chapter to the forthcoming book, Lucid Dreaming: Cross-Cultural Understandings of Consciousness in the Dream State (Praeger), edited by Kelly Bulkeley & Ryan Hurd.

EWP alum Taghi Amjadi offers counseling at San Francisco State University

Tagji Amjadi, Ph.D., graduated in 2006, focusing his doctoral studies on the role of the heart in Hafez's poetry. He has currently been working as a faculty counselor at San Francisco State University, where he offers psychological counseling services to both students and staff members. He also holds other part-time clinical positions and teaches singing at the Persian Institute in San Jose.

EWP Ph.D. students are awarded the Integral Scholarships from the Cultural Integration Fellowship

Adrian Auler's project is entitled "The Value of Integral Psychology in Revealing the Multidimensional Nature of Addiction."

Marta Rubinart's project is entitled "The Jesus Prayer as a Sadhana for the Opening of the Psychic Being: A Hermeneutical Interpretation of the Hesychast texts through the lens of Integral Yoga"

As part of the scholarship, both Adrian and Marta will present their projects at the annual Founder's Symposium at CIIS this coming spring.
