Saturday Night@CIIS, a working artists series of FREE performances and lectures hosted by the Writing and Consciousness MFA Program and the Creative Inquiry, Interdisciplinary Arts MFA Program at California Institute of Integral Studies.

CIIS Minna Street Center, 695 Minna Street at 8th Street, San Francisco
Laramie: A Gem City Atlas: Rebecca Solnit is the author of thirteen books about art, landscape, public and collective life, ecology, politics, hope, meandering, reverie, and memory. This event features Solnit and students from the MFA program at the University of Wyoming in conversation with MFA students from CIIS about landscape and imagination.

February 4: 6:15PM-7:30PM
Namaste Hall, CIIS Main Building
Transgressions: Crossing boundaries of culture, gender, genre, and politics: This panel features choreographer/performer Shinichi Iova-Koga, dance and performance artist Keith Hennessey, visual/theater artist Stephanie Anne Johnson, and filmmaker/playwright Mary Guzman in conversation with choreographer Anne Bluethenthal.

February 18: 6:15PM-7:30PM
Namaste Hall, CIIS Main Building
Witnessing: History and the Individual Voice: A conversation between prize-winning novelist/poet Elizabeth Rosner, author of The Speed of Light and Blue Nude; and filmmaker/author/curator Jenni Olson, director of The Joy of Life. Preceded by open mic by MFA students, 5:30PM-6:30PM.

March 10: 6:15PM-7:30PM

Raising a Voice: Vocal activist and singer/songwriter Melanie DeMore uses her remarkable voice to weave the fibers of African American folksongs with soulful ballads, spirituals, and original music. This evening also features DeMore's unique form of spontaneous choir. Preceded by open mic by MFA students, 5:30PM-6:30PM.

Launch party for the Double Helix issue of Mission at Tenth, the MFA inter-arts journal, featuring contributors in conversation about the intersection of science and art, facilitated by editor Randall Babtkis.
