Master of Fine Arts in Creative Inquiry, Interdisciplinary Arts
The MFA in Creative Inquiry, Interdisciplinary Arts welcomes artists practicing or trained in single or multiple disciplines who are ready to
- acquire additional skills and add a credential to expand their job options or open up new career tracks
- interrogate and challenge their assumptions, practices, and ideas about their art
- engage in creative inquiry to reflect on the interrelationship between personal values and aesthetic choices, placing their own work at the center of their inquiry
- experiment with cross-disciplinary approaches to art-making, allowing new forms of art and innovative venues for it to emerge
- dialogue about interdisciplinary perspectives on art, focusing on how artists feed each other across disciplines
- draw on academic and contemporary discourse to claim an arts lineage, contextualize their art, and investigate how art can reflect or aid social change and culture to claim an arts lineage, contextualize their art and investigate how art can reflect or aid social change by transgressing or breaking through personal and cultural barriers
- deepen their art discipline through self-reflection and exposure to art that offers multiminded views on culture, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation
- collaborate with and participate in a supportive, community of artists who have a wide variety of educational backgrounds, art practices and life experience
- thrive in small classes, (limited) online conferences, and one-on-one work with mentors and faculty advisors.
