Sally Atkins

Sally Atkins, EdD, is core faculty at the European Graduate School in Switzerland, a psychotherapist, a licensed psychologist (HSP-P), a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) and Consultant/Educator (REACE). Her honors include the UNC Board of Governors Teaching Award and the University Distinguished Graduate Faculty Award.

Her professional writings include numerous journal articles covering a breadth of research and creative interests, including expressive arts therapy, therapeutic writing, dreamwork and psychotherapy, ecotherapy, cross-cultural healing practices, community and the arts, and organizational development.

She has coauthored Expressive Arts Therapy: Creative Process in Art and Life with the interdisciplinary faculty group the Appalachian Expressive Arts Collective, which she cofounded. She is also coeditor of the Sourcebook in Expressive Arts Therapy. Sally’s poems have appeared in literary and professional journals, and she is the author of a book of poetry, Picking Clean the Bones, and a chapbook, Breath Is the First Prayer.
