Linda Hammond
Adjunct Faculty in Expressive Arts Therapy
Linda Hammond, adjunct faculty in Expressive Arts Therapy is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT), and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) with private practice offices in San Francisco and Oakland/Berkeley since 1989. She received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Masters in Theater from Goddard College, and Masters in Counseling Psychology form the California Institue of Integral Studies/ ICP in 1989. She has developed treatment using the expressive arts with an emphasis on body-oriented psychotherapy, theater movement playtherapy, and sandplay in her work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples.
She has introduced a focus on expressive arts and body-oriented psychotherapy in her work in addiction at Haight Ashbury Detox and Rehabilitation, and as a child therapist for the children of recovering addicts at the Women’s Alcoholism Center and Circle Counseling Center. Linda was the founder/executive director/clinical director for eight years at the Circle Counseling Center in San Francisco, which provided treatment for children from families affected by substance abuse and HIV disease.
Her work includes a deep understanding of the transpersonal and creative issues for both women and men involved in process of depth therapy deep change and self-acceptance.
In addition to her private practice, Linda currently supervises interns at the Child Therapy Institute of Marin, a training and treatment center for children using sandplay and playtherapy.
