The Use of Sound in Integrative Medicine

with Mitchell Gaynor

Mitchell Gaynor integrates music, vocalization, breathing, and meditation techniques. In this class he presents his sound-based practices for self-healing that you can use whether you're faced with disease or simply seeking relief from the stresses of daily life.

Numerous studies have demonstrated the health benefits of music. This class includes exercises with pure vocal sound and Vedic mantras to resolve tension, release emotion, and spur healing. The workshop uses the sounds of metal and quartz crystal singing bowls, each vibrating at a different frequency, to create a harmony that allows you to experience inner silence. Silence is not the absence of sound--it's like an empty vessel that allows you to connect with the deep source of your healing and well being. In the workshop, Dr Gaynor will also review the studies documenting the beneficial effects of yoga and music therapy in patients with serious illness.
